The Morrow Family

My mother and Stephanie Morrow’s mother have been friends since childhood and grew up together in a small town named Hartsville, SC. Although my family was in Charleston and Stephanie’s in Columbia, SC we got to know them well not only because our mother’s were childhood friends, but because 20-30 yrs ago when you grew up LDS in South Carolina you pretty much knew everyone else in South Carolina that is also LDS (especially in your teen years). It’s a small world that way. Stephanie dated my brother and I dated her brother. Her sister lived with us for a year. I’ve known her long enough to honestly say, she is one of the nicest people I’ve ever known….not a mean bone in her body. That’s the way she and David raised their boys too. This family is like family to me and my family. We love them all and so when David was diagnosed w/ brain cancer we prayed for a miracle with hundreds of others who have been touched by this family over the years. Stephanie and David have lived in Charleston and been in my family’s Ward now for about 20 years. David was the Bishop of this Ward the past 3 years. He finished medical school and his training at the Medical School of South Carolina (MUSC) located in downtown Charleston. He was an orthopedic surgeon and touched many co-workers and patients’ lives (see link for “Memories of David”). Unfortunately though due to all his training he only worked 7 years and the family still has school loans to pay back and now huge medical bills. This terrible tragedy has left Stephanie w/ five boys who still hope to go to college and go on missions. Please help me decrease some of the aftershock of loosing David by decreasing some of their financial burdens. Every little bit will help.

Donation FAQ's

1. I see the payments are going through Paypal. What if I don’t have or want a Paypal account? You can still safely use your credit card to make a donation (look at the bottom left side of donation page).
2. What if I don’t feel comfortable donating online? You can mail a check to me directly.
3. Where will the donation go? 100% of your donation will go directly to the Morrow family to pay Medical Bills. There is certainly a need for college funds and mission funds for the boys, but there are also Medical Expenses that first need to be paid.
4. Is the donation tax deductible? No, your donation is not tax deductible like it would be if you donate to a specific charitable organization. However, you can be guaranteed that your donation is for a very worthy cause and very worthy family. Every little bit will help.
5. How long will you be taking donations? The ride I am dedicating to the Morrow family is in October 4, 2008. I would like to present the family with a big check soon after the ride’s over, but will happily take any donations after this date and add them to the total given.
6. Will my name be listed on the website as a donor? Yes, I will list donor’s names on my website. If you would prefer to give anonymously please email me: katiecenturyride@gmail.com
7. How much should I give? My ride is 100 miles and I would love for people to donate per mile. I would love a $1 or more per mile, but any amount is very much appreciated.
8. Will my donation be listed? I will add the donation amount to the Total Donation category each time a donation is submitted, but will not put the amount donated by the donor’s name.
